Our founders include Lt.Col. G.S. Bhalla (Retired), a former officer of the Indian army, in which he also served with the historic United Nations Operation in the Congo (ONUC) in the 1960s, a strapping lieutenant in his mid‑twenties. A keen surveyor of market volatility, having conducted the family's long‑standing investments in Indian equities, the colonel mentors Point Man's interest in this asset class.

The colonel's wife, Sudhir Bhalla, a polyglot with fluency in five languages, has strategized the family's foray into alternative investments, especially real estate, over the past several decades and is a co‑founder. An eyewitness to several turnings in India, most significantly the bloodletting of the Partition in 1947, Mrs. Bhalla has lived widely across India as an army wife. She majored in English literature in college and in graduate school.

Abhijit Bhalla, the colonel's son, whose formative childhood was spent on army bases, most tellingly on the Indo‑Tibetan frontier amid difficult trails and forbidding mountains, provides principal leadership at Point Man.

Prior to returning to India, to help manage the family's estate and investments, Abhijit was the executive director of a storied investment company in the United States, in charge of its proprietary trading practice. He received his bachelor's degree from Caltech, majoring in aeronautics, and also holds a master's degree in engineering from Cornell University and an MBA from the University of Chicago, where he was a research assistant to Robert Fogel, the late economics Nobel laureate.
